Protecting Student Information

Colleges and universities across the country are taking steps in order to make their campuses safer for their students. But are they being fully protected? There have still been attacks on students, but of a different kind. Recently, many universities have been victims of data piracy, where student information has been stolen via hacking or just through the simple theft of university equipment. This raises many questions, including “Why is valuable student information so vulnerable?” and “What are schools doing in order to enhance security systems to prevent data breaches?”
TouchNet Information Systems seeks to provide a solution. The company has recently launched Seek-N-Secure, a software service that can track down unprotected, sensitive data. This includes information that is personally identifiable, and once Seek-N-Secure finds the information, it protects it against malicious activity. Seek-N-Secure also lets university IT professional find the holes in their practices that allow such data to remain unprotected, and patch them up. Hopefully, TouchNet will not be the only company launching such solutions, and academic institutions will not hesitate in utilizing them to protect their students.
